Astro Wah Lai Toi is a Cantonese-generic subscription television channel from Malaysia, which is provided by Astro. It is described to be similar in style to Hong Kong television, particularly that of TVB, and offers mainly TVB programming, alongside some local content. Selected programmes, particularly primetime drama slots, are available in dual audio, in which viewers can select either to watch the programme in Cantonese or Mandarin (or original language of the programme). These dramas are also available with Bahasa Malaysia & Chinese subtitles by pressing the subtitle button. Astro had been mistaken for holding an exclusive right as the sole pay-TV service in Malaysia to broadcast TVB programmes; rather, it holds such right to broadcast TVB programmes on the entire of one channel which it runs. This channel which has 80% will be mirroring with Astro Zhi Zun HD, which changed its name to Astro Wah Lai Toi HD on 6 October 2014. As of 2 September 2015, the HD version will simulcast the SD version like several Astro-branded channels that have both SD and HD versions, such as Astro Ria, Astro SuperSport, Astro SuperSport 2, Astro SuperSport 3, Astro AEC and Astro Shuang Xing. Astro Wah Lai Toi is available for NJOI Prepaid from 3 June 2015 onwards. ==Channel details== Since the Malaysian government does not allow any television station to be operated by foreigners; Hong Kong's TVB collaborated with Astro to launch Astro Wah Lai Toi. It benefits over 100 million HK dollars every year from Astro by providing 85% programs on prime time. Moreover, TVB is the advertising agency of Astro Wah Lai Toi and offers counselling service for it. To satisfy a greater audience, TVB dramas that Astro Wah Lai Toi plays are in dual languages (Cantonese and Mandarin). In addition, all the HK dramas played in this channel have Mandarin and Malay subtitles.
